A dated flare-location candidate

Checked 11 September 2026. A recovered engineering plan depicts Woodfibre LNG's HP/LP flare stack and three guy wires. The District of Squamish links the plan as part of a development-permit application. Revision 6 was issued for construction on 16 August 2024; it has not been confirmed as the latest design or the position actually built. Official drawing, 350106-0000-00-PI-DWG-P0A-0002

A manual reading of the plan places the flare-base symbol near E482010/N5501780 m, in UTM Zone 10 NAD83(CSRS), rounded to 10 m. This is approximately 490 m from the study's current source placeholder, an operations-control-tower point, and 600 m from the onsite air-quality monitor. The calculation was checked against the plan's monument coordinates and scale bar. These are approximate horizontal distances: coordinate-datum and reference-epoch differences were not corrected, and rounding does not establish survey accuracy. The study's source placeholder remains unchanged. Monitor reference

The plan also labels a cold-flare radiation envelope with a 170 m radius evaluated 205 m above grade. The 205 m annotation does not establish the flare's height. The displayed unit is retained as “kw/m”; the supporting calculation was not recovered. This envelope supplies neither pollutant emission rates nor an air-quality prediction. Drawing, page 1

The search recovered no current release case linking tip geometry, gas flow, heat, pollutant mass and duration. The BCER facility permit is unchanged from the retained copy. The two new links in the Woodfibre filings library concern construction effluent; its ambient reports still end at June 2026. The next priority remains the accepted Flaring Management Report and current engineering source schedule, connected to this drawing and any later revision. No correspondence was sent.
